Cocobolo wood is in limited supply, and is also in relatively high demand; coming across a raw cut of this exotic wood is considered a lucky and rare find. We are excited to feature this beautiful wood in our new limited earring designs.
Cocobolo wood is a tropical hardwood of Central American. Typically only the heartwood of cocobolo is used and can be seen in a kaleidoscope of colors ranging from yellow, orange, red, brown with streaks of black or purple. The wood can be polished to a lustrous, glossy finish being quite dense and strong. The sapwood is not often used due to its uniqueness and rarity, it displays a creamy yellow and a sharp boundary between it and the heartwood.
Sam and I met 11 years ago and instantly became pals, he has become a father figure, a teacher, a role model, a co-designer, and a fantastic friend. The idea of collaborating on this new earring line came from hanging out and playing in his woodshop.
